Not if the kilt is non-Tartan. If it's a wrap with pleats then it's a kilt. "Quasi" or not as you like.

and bearing in mind of course that the Kilt is the garb of the Highlander and not the Scot !! so its a symbol of Highland culture thats been adopted by our lowland bretheren as well, so you could legitimatly as a glasgow kilt wearer, "Excuse me are you a Highlander?"

And he could answer in the affirmative if he was a member of the 10th Battalion of the old Highland Light Infantry, also know as the Glasgow Highlanders, made up of Highlandmen who resided in Glasgow.

Hey Freddie - on the same page my friend! Parents from North of the Border - I was unlucky born down here - but 100% British...

Question - if Alex Salmond gets his way he'll introduce Scottish Passports. Anyone with a grandparent born in Scotland would be eligible to have one. Would you apply for one? Me - OH YEAH!

My other passion (from kilts) is Rugby. You can represent Scotland with 1x Scottish grandparent - so I'm good and my Children are good for it too! Just in case my son ever wants to play for Scotland - which is fine by me! That's me happy!!!

I looked this up and various sources say JFK was perfectly correct in his usage of "Ich bin ein Berliner". It's the faux pas that never was.
