    "cheap(er)" material/tartan - 100%wool, 16oz, 59" wide

For those who are interested ( I already reserved 4 meters), Fraser & Kirkbright have 16oz, 100% wool, "Maple Leaf" tartan, 59" wide, on sale for $30 (CAD) per meter. I'm hoping to (finally) try my hand at making a "tradional"/"tank".

Remember - the Maple Leaf tartan is asymmetrical. So 4 meters double-width is enough for two box pleated kilts, but for a tank you will need 7 meters or so.

well, 4 yards double width can work for a tank, but it will require a hem.
