    Blended whisky - quick question

I'll make this short & sweet:

    Tomatin "Ancient Clan"

Heard of it? Tried it? Thumbs up? Thumbs down?

I wasn't able to find much on the interwebs...

Have some Tomatin single malt but not the Ancient Clan blended. Like what I have but then it isn't quite the same is it. Sorry, I am pretty much a single malt snob.

Just grab a bottle of Vat 69. It's not single malt, but it's got my great-great-grandpappy's name on the label.

Whatever you choose to drink, make sure to give it several tastings, so you can compare the first taste to the 8th or so. By then, though, you might not be very picky about the taste; you might be more interetsed in why the floor is spinning and how to sit very still

Actually this isn't bad advice, just spread the tastings out over several days to give your pallet a chance to adjust to the flavour of the whisky before you decide if you like it or not.

Frankly I've never understood being a single malt snob-- single malts are blended whiskies as well. What whisky is all about is flavour and aroma, something you get from "blended" malts as well as "single" malts.

Not exactly related to this post, but for those of us living within driving distance of Hickory, NC, there's a winery near there which makes muscadine (NC's state fruit and native grape), scuppernong, and blueberry wines which, imho, are the best wines ever one the face of the Earth. Its web site is www.woodmillwinery.com, and I'm not connected with it other than as a happy customer. If you like wine, it's worth the trouble to check them out. If you don't like wine, it's still good stuff.
