Pipe Smokers?

My brother gave me a meerschaum church warden which I love. Unfortunatly my smoking has been limited to a corn cob pipe since all my good pipes are in Missouri and the Navy has not let me have leave yet. They should be mailed here in due time though.

Thank you for your service to our country. I love my Meerschaum pipes. You can really taste the subtleties of the tobaccos when smoking one of these fragile pieces.

I've yet to smoke a meerschaum... I have one, which I've owned for well over 10 years, but I haven't been able to bring myself to smoke it yet...

Thunderbolt: "I have a friend from Germany that brings me a small box of tiny "stones" that I put in the bottom of the bowl to absorb moisture and prevents "gurgling" from the moisture of the tobacco. I haven't seen them around here, although I haven't really looked for them yet."

I work at a mall tobacconist, and these are available. Eric's Keystones they're called, at about $8 per bag... I'll not hazard a guess as to the bag's weight, though it should last you for years.

I smoke far more cigars than pipe these days, though I've been smoking a pipe for 38 years this Easter. My favorite pipes are Maestro Biraldi (made in Rome, Italy), and those made by Randy Wiley in Florida. I've several Petersons, Savinelli, and Castello's as well as one Dunhill and a Redice.

I'll smoke nearly any mixture, though for a light blend, I do like Dunhill 965. I also like a medium Cavendish from McClellans that my employer buys in bulk (and I forget the blend number, but it's a 2000-series) and sold as Williamsburg. When I want something heavy, I like Samuel Gawith's 1792 Flake, which is one of the strongest blends available anwhere.

My favorite travel pipe is a Missouri Meerschaum -- the corncob. These cost so little, I don't worry about losing them.

Sorry, I've not heard of them. I checked your link to their site, and think they are much like Falcon pipes, though they do look a bit different. I own and have smoked Falcons for nearly 20 years now, and initially found they smoked a bit "wet", but that led me to finding Eric's Keystones, and they do make it a much dryer smoke. Alternatively (though I've not tried them) are the Falcon Pipe Dry Rings (info here: http://www.tobacco-barn.com/p-3160-f...pks-of-25.aspx). I've even seen a Dr Grabow that had interchangable bowls like the Falcon -- in fact, Falcon bowls would fit it. I dunno if that's still made or not.

Thanks for the info, Steve. I think that's what they were called.

I'm almost positive someone here in PHX has them. But I smoke so little that it isn't a priority, or I forget until have a pipe again...
