rugby socks
I have cream colored hoses. But I'm curious to know if I can get away with wearing rugby socks. Of course, they are solid colored socks... I wear the black ones regularly, but I was wondering about the others. I have Burgundy, Kelly green and Royal blue. I'm planning to buy new kilt hoses from the vendor on ebay that McMurdo pointed to, but I've got 2x kilts coming in so it'll have to wait a bit.

Don't do it! I have seen a bunch of people wearing rugby and even soccer socks with a kilt. In my opinion the socks become almost sheer and look horrible. I have never seen anyone wearing a pair of rugby socks that I felt added to their outfit. The colours you picked look great, but I think you will find that the socks are much to thin to suit the kilt well. Buy 1 -2 good pair of $20 kilt hose (Gaelic Themes) and stick to those.
Rugby shirts look great with a kilt, but leave the socks for the pitch.

The reason I chose these from my kit bag is because they are thicker than the others. I will take a few pics with them on to see if they are sheer. But if they aren't, technically, i'm ok. or stay away from them period?

As long as your legs can't be seen through the hose, they'd work okay as they are great colours. But as Colin pointed out, even the heaviest Rugby socks tend to be too sheer when compared to proper kilt hose. The only way to know for certain is put 'em on, and post the photos.

I see what you mean by too sheer, but the burgundy ones seems fine, the blues have to much white sheen and the green also. Burgundy could work for this kilt, But I don't think the other colors would.

Kilt don't! Don't mix your kilt hose colours, even if they both go with the kilt nicely!![Smile](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
Seriously, there doesn't seem to be enough rollover of the hose at the top, just from looking at the pictures. I agree that the colours go well though.

Hmm... When I look at the pix of you wearing them, the only word that comes to my head is in Japanese: giri-giri which means: "just barely" or "narrowly adequate."
They are indeed too thin, and I can see that they are too thin (especially the blue ones)... If I were in a bind and truly had nothing else clean in the closet to wear with my kilt then I'd say OK, but under normal circumstances, not so much... Even the burgundy ones. The color is fine but the problem is that we can absolutely see the stretch in the fabric.
