Alex, you are probably heading back home to Scotland by now, but I want you to know that I am sorry I missed your thread (as I do so many thesedays) until Derek (dwg69) rang to draw my attention to it.

What a terrible experience for you - I'm so sorry. As others here have stated: I too look forward to seeing you again in Dumfries this weekend.

    Travel carefully, and

    Take care,
    Ham.

I commiserate with you. I'm so glad you have enough left to get back, otherwise I imagine you would be having to beg from the nearest consulate. Perhaps they would loan you some money anyway? It may be worth a try.

This brings me in mind of the time I nearly missed my ferry home across the North Sea and was running down the road to catch it when a taxi pulled over for me. When he dropped me off at the ferry I was embarassed at not having enough foreign currency left to pay the fare, but he didn't seem to mind, and seemed happy when I just gave him what I had. I doubt that a railway ticket office would be so understanding, though.

Not fun being stuck with a diet of biscuits and water except for breakfast. I suppose, looking on the bright side, most of us could stand to lose a few pounds, but even so...

I am sure that many of you will be most relieved to hear that Alex has survived his ordeal -- in spite of having to skip a few meals -- and was still alive and well when we met this morning.
After a good walk and a meal, he has been escorted to the airport, and, as far as I know is now winging his way north.
Nothing could prevent him from celebrating Burns Night in the old country.

    Cool 50 bucks

Alex, This is Skip from Skipscafe, I wondered where you disappeared to. I can spare you $50.00 American to use until you get back on your feet. Have a paypal account? That would be the easy way to get it to you. $50 ain't a lot but its a lot more than nothing. If you want it, PM me at my site. ith:
