Bart - I think you're asking about the straps. I've seen webbed straps on contemporary kilts, but I wouldn't expect to find them on the more traditional variety. My weight changes frequently, but I've never been bothered by not being able to buckle my kilt on the third and three-quarter's hole. If that's what you want to work with on your first kilt, go for it. You could also probably go to a tack shop and ask them to make something in leather more to your liking with more closely spaced holes. They could probably knock it out pretty quickly.
