My new kilt saved my legs!

I went to lunch with my wife this afternoon. I got a nice, big cup of steaming hot coffee, which I managed to dump all over my lap almost immediately. I was wearing my new wool SWK saffron. The thing really impressed me, I have to say. I did this once while wearing jeans and got burns on my legs. Bad burns. Through my saffron, I got nothing. The top apron soaked up the coffee. My legs didn't even get wet until the heat had dispersed. Only problem is, now I have to get the thing dry cleaned. Ah well, better than the burns. I learned yet another advantage to the wool kilt this evening.

Why on earth would you want to buy a cup of coffee and then pour it on your lap?? I always thought you were supposed to drink it.

Just think how much more the advantage would've been if you'd been in a teflon-coated pv kilt

I had an experience today similar, except I missed my kilt. I poured a new mug of coffee (holds 4 cups worth of coffee) and for some reason, my mind thought the new coffee would be the same temp as the last of the previous mug worth, and I took a big swig of burning pain, my entire mouth hurts now. I waited for it to cool a little after that, but I still drank it.

I did that with some tea this past summer. Same situation, only I actually had blisters on my tongue for about a week.

Be careful Nighthawk, could have brought a whole new meaning to the term 'Burns Night'.

If it's a wooly I'd hand-wash it rather than dryclean. There's some great advice on handwashing wool kilts here

You know, I almost wonder how there hasn't been a machine built just for washing kilts. If my hand washing machine was bigger, I think it could handle it. http://www.laundry-alternative.com/p...onderwash.html I use it when our pipes freeze and I still need to do laundry. It's not as fast as the site says, but it get the job done. I plan on using it when I get around to washing my wool kilt hose.

You know, this is a classic Hawk family moment, captured for all time right here on X Marks the Scot.

Could we get a picture of the coffee stain for the archives?
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…
