    Buyer beware threads?

Not wanting to start a big brouhaha or rile the feathers of the board owners, but is there a forum or a thread for boadmembers to warn others about bad experiences or poor customer service from some dealers of Scottish/Kilt related merchandise?

I ask as I note one boardmember offered a wee warning about FrugalCorner in a thread so I was wondering if we had such a thread to better protect ourselves and our pocketbooks.

No, not any one thread, but that's what the search feature is for. For example, before you buy from clansmen knitwear, you'd want to run this search: http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/s...nsmen+knitwear

    Best regards,

I had my experience with Clansman Knitwear! That is one reason I asked. Though I was probably one of the lucky ones as I did get my order and actually got him on the phone once. Though, my order wasn't exactly what I wanted. A shirt I ordered was no longer in production he said and offered me a different one..which I like a lot less. Bu the told me the newer shirt was more popular at events. I was just wanting the stuff as they were xmas gifts. Only took about a month to get here...arriving 2 days before the holiday...lol.

Jake said it all. Search is your friend.

I'm getting there with WPG. I returned my poorly made regimental Gordon for a replacement several weeks ago and the receipt/return response has been less than stellar.... I'm starting to get the aggravated!

Perhaps a thread would be better, only so you could see if CS is getting better, going down hill, or staying the same. I remember older threads about Frugal Corner being bad about selling out of stock kilts and not telling people and taking a long time to send them. A month or so ago, I remember a thread where the guy from FC said the problem was fixed, and a bit more transparent, so such problems shouldn't happen in the future. I ordered a shirt from there on Sunday, and it shipped Monday, even though the site said they don't ship on Monday, and I am expecting it here tomorrow. (It helped that someone posted a discount code for them, I was torn between a few places but I needed it in a hurry, and I figured I'd take my chances with ground from MN rather than ground from Cal. So far service has been good.

Having Canadian Casual Kilts an hour away and RKilts an hour and a half I really don't have to worry. When I do need something that they can't offer I will go through those members here that also peddle wares. They have worked hard for a reputation here and will do everything to keep it. Over the years I've built a report with these people online so should any problems arise they are always quick to communicate this. Also things could arise out of their control and I have to realize this and that communication greatly reduce the impact. I don't feel I need to go anywhere else with all the talent here.

I have talked to Rocky and Jerry both on the phone, and emailed with Rocky before. (SWK and USAK respectively.)

If I needed a kilt in a hurry, I'd go with Jerry, and if they ever raise my credit limit on my CC, I'd have an order in with Rocky. (Or that leather Mach 5 from I think Rkilts. I know the website when I see it.)

One of the best features of this board for me is the alerts to poor/deceptive/non-existant service. Seems to be the same vendors time after time. Sometimes we read of an occasional glitch with a normally trustworthy vendor - like whatever's up with WPG above, but those are just that, weird things that happen from time to time, not a track record of deception or taking the money and running.

Ironic, I was furious when I learned the hard way about Clansman Knitwear...now, the posts seem to happen so often I sort of chuckle....the guy's still out there running the same play over and over and over and still around finding new customers with no clue...yet....

Best to search this forum before committing to a new vendor, and best to deal direct with your kiltmaker whenever possible.

And always remember you can have any two of price, quality, or service.

    Two Words

    Trade Libel.

A "complaints department" probably isn't a good idea.
