Welcome from Michigan! The best part is not the measuring, it is when you put on your first made to fit kilt. Sportkilts are comfy, but do not fit like one made just for you!!!!

Hello, and a warm Celtic from Boston, Massachusetts.
If you do decide to take up piping, read first the sticky under Celtic Musicians by BeloitPiper. It has the best advise for a beginner there is. There are about a dozen of us that are just beginning the training to some day become pipers. It is a long road of daily practice. A Tutor is not an option, but a necessity.
Thank you for having served in the Air Force.
You are well aware of the importance of proper training - same is true of the Great Highland Bagpipes.
