Puffer, see Nick's announcement - it is still in the friends-and-family stage of testing.

    Regards,
    Rex.

Sad you've found a company offering "customer no-service" in a line of work where customer service and responsiveness would be key.

Imagine working with a tattoo artist that limited your choices to a few of his designs rather than working with you until you were satisfied.

Hope you do get satisfaction with this outfit Monday, but if not, there are others who do offer it.

thats the thing, it would be 30meters/yards of tartan getting woven, so it's not a small amount

I picked up on the 'location' clue. Please note that there are several other mills who will weave less fabric (yes, even for a custom 1 off run). Also, we have several tartan designers up here, Matt Newsome and I are 2 'professional' designers (we own stores, are in the 'tartan industry' and make a living from this) and there are SEVERAL OTHER members up here who design tartans for fun or have designed them for their own name / purposes...

To repeat myself and reinforce what others have also said... don't settle. You can weed out certain things you like and don't like, but don't settle. ESPECIALLY if you have to buy 30 M.

Also, make SURE that YOU own the tartan design (the mills or designer should get credit for the 'designed by' aspect). There is another mill (to remain nameless) who claims the right to own ANY tartan they design, no matter who it is for or if they're comissioned. To me, that's just wrong...

An example... I designed the Albannach tartan on my computer, but would NEVER think of telling the band that "I own it". I was hired to design it FOR THEM and having been compensated for my time, THEY should (and do) retain it's ownership.

if you don't get any satisfaction from this mill, contact me; we can offer computer aided designs and will custom weave as little as 8 metres (double wide).

I agree with what has been said already. There is NO reason to settle, or to let someone else hold the copyright to the tartan if you commissioned its creation. It's yours, and it shouldn't be "done" until your completely happy with it.

You know, you could have saved a lot of DKM fans some grief if you got some kind of clause like 'after 5 years I get right to make kilts in the tartan for fans with a royalty payment of $xx to go to the band' or something.
