The first, being rather potentially combative, whereas the second......isn't.
Take this a s a gentle nudge, and if you prefer "dislike" to "hate" then good on ye. I strongly dislike black kilt hose on MYSELF.

I have to specify my earlier reply folks.
It is not my intention to be judgemental or combative. It was just a way for me to discribe a stile I would not go for and it probably came out a bit wrong due to my poor english.
I realy dislike the thought of me in a kilt without the hoses. I will feel less masculine.
But I also agree with Derek that some folks can pull it off.
(By the way, cool website Derek! )

Along with plastic when it should be wood, leather or jewel I really dislike:
Patent Leather - yuk yuk yuk - just bloody idleness!
The 'Eathen in his idleness bows down to wood and stone,
'E don't obey no orders unless they is his own,
He keeps his side arms awful,
And he leaves them all about,
Until up comes the Regiment and kicks the 'Eathen out.

Hate is a bit strong. I don't like tartan flashes nor do I like tartan ties with the kilt and while I am a jabot man myself for formal occasions I don't like lace cuffs because they catch on things and dip in your soup - not because of the look which I do like. They just aren't practical.

A huge ***
Plus, and I'll catch some heat for this: I believe that it's time that we stop wearing sealskin.
Just my $.02

I don't hate anything. However I'm not a fan of buckle or gillie brogues. I prefer a nice standard brogue. Fake sgian dubhs are a no. Dirks, claymore basket hilts and the targe, are fine to display in your home collection which is where they should stay unless you are a re-enactor. Dirks are of course OK for pipers and to cut the haggis on Burns night.

I tuck them into the sleeves while eating, and pull them out after dessert. It works quite well.

I'm not crazy about belts period. I don't wear a sporran very often. I don't care to have things around my waist. I'll wear a vest or something with pockets instead.
