Let me affirm what others have mentioned - Graeme is a fine, straight-talkin', honest lad. I consider it an honor to call him a friend. I've always gotten a good, fair deal from him. He stands behind his merchandise. He's a fount of kilt or Scottish related information. And he only sells quality merchandise.

About 3 years ago I got the major components of my formal Highland outfit from him - full 8-yd "tank" (with matching garter, of course), Prince Charlie jacket & waistcoat, fly plaid, hose, & ghillie brogues. The formal sporran, sgian dhu, clan kilt pin, tuxedo shirt, studs, silk bow tie, clan cuff-links, & clan broach I purchased separately on line. That's a lot of stuff & the whole outfit cost about $2,000. My philosophy, though, has always been that in the long run, it's always cheaper to buy well-made, good quality clothing (or anything for that matter). You'll look better, feel better & if properly cared for, it'll give you years, even a lifetime of service & pleasure.

I get an annual bonus through my day job (or my soon-to-be former day job), so I was able to get the whole outfit in one shot, but Thunderbolt had a good suggestion of assembling your Highland outfit "Beag air bheag."

As a DJ who frequently entertains at weddings, I regularly wear my Highland outfit. It's an investment I'm glad I made.

Anyway, that's all down the road, for your cruise, Graeme's made you a very generous deal. I'd say, enjoy it (with the plaid, is my vote) & wear it with pride!

I like the look of fly plaids, but they can be a bit much to wear around and can get in the way. I say wear it for the photo and to see how you like it. If you want to keep it on after that fine, otherwise remove it.

If you can spend $1,000, $1,500 or more on your Highland attire, and it doesn't bother you to do so, then you certainly should go right ahead and do so. I'm sure you will look smashing.
