I think the Sam Browne or police belt is a grand idea - the basket weave ones are very good looking.
The problem with stable belts is that like wearing military badges you risk offending those who feel that you should not be wearing them if you did not serve in, or have very close connections with the Regiment or Corps concerned. These are part of our regimental 'tribal' wear. The ones you picture are RCT, LI or RGJ, PWRR and RGR. I'm fairly sympathetic to this view.
A number of people questioned my right to wear a black cowboy hat with gold cav officers hatband. I think they were mostly satisfied that as I have served as a Brit Cav officer I was just about OK but even then I was probably stretching a point.
The 'Eathen in his idleness bows down to wood and stone,
'E don't obey no orders unless they is his own,
He keeps his side arms awful,
And he leaves them all about,
Until up comes the Regiment and kicks the 'Eathen out.
