Mom was very happy, and I told her 65 more years and I will do it again
Just had to share it with you all. This just makes me love my kilts even more, I felt so out of place.
    "Catch more bees with honey....."

Sounds like your mom might have gotten the memo. Well done for acquiesing. My mom is of the same mind as yours. Always an adventure.

My wife's is just under 3 weeks from mine. Really handy. One of our son's is 6/30 and the other is 9/30. Perhaps next time we might target 12/30.... if we go that route.

My moms is the day before mine, and my dad's was the week before mine, same day. (It would have been today, but he died almost 6 years ago.)

The next few years can be wonderful, but, as you get older so do they. As you move into the "prime" of life they move out of it, and that can be hard to take. For both of you, the thing is; for a while you can see eye to eye, do so, before the reality of elder age sets in.

For now, enjoy what they can give you, and what you can give them. Ignore their prejudices, and love them as best you can.

    God bless and keep you.
I am coming into that phase as well. Someone pointed out to me today that more people are leaving my life than entering it. As many know, my father in law passed away a few weeks ago at the age of 97.8(his wife thought those months important, and he did work hard for them) and then my mother took a tumble from which she is recovering well thanks. All of my parental generation have been accepting of my kilts, for which I am grateful. I went kilted to Christmas Eve dinner and the most "negative" comment was from my cousin's wife who said "Dude, you're wearing a skirt!", to which I replied "Dude, you know better!"

At least you can celebrate with her. I lost my Mother in 1997 when she was 74. I barely knew what a kilt was back then. If I had worn one when she was alive, she would have been supportive as her family is the most Scottish of my ancestors. Knowing her as I did, she supported and encouraged all of my obsessions. I don't think the kilt would have been any different.

True dat. No drama, just a polite request. Sounds like you've both decided to meet each other halfway -- at least for the time being.
Why, a child of five could understand this. Quick -- someone fetch me a child of five!
