Some answers - Mael: When I ordered the kilt, I told Matt Newsome that I was partial to dark reds and blacks in a tartan and was not especially interested in a clan tartan (I'm a Gunn and have tartans of similarity). So, he suggested Red Campbell, a tartan not accepted as a clan tartan by Clan Campbell, but shown in a portrait of a Campbell lad in the 1600s (can't find the link for that portrait, but I'll keep looking, it's a great portrait!). So, that's what I got.
1MONK3 - If you are interested in reenacting, let me know. We are a non-profit educational organization (incorporated) that portrays 3 time periods: French and Indian War (77th Regiment, Grenadiers), American War of Independence (42nd RHR Grenadiers), and Jacobites (Clan Chattan of which I portray Col. MacGilivary). We can usually field 15 to 20 men, are good at authenticity and we FIGHT, as good Highlanders do! If interested, use my personal email: sjtmmacwm@comcast.net
PUFFER - you do War of 1812?? We are trying to get to Waterloo for the 2010 reenactment. I have been in contact with a group from UK that portrays 42nd in hopes they can lend us kit....about 5 of my company are interested.

Thanks, for the tartan info, Malcolm. Sounds like an interesting choice. Look forward to the pics.

Let me know when your forces move through Virginia as I will attempt a rendezvous.

    Hello Malcolm,
I would be very interested. You should be receiving an e-mail from me in the very near future. I'm currently Rep./ Regent for Clan Cameron in my region (New England) and I'm involved in various things throughout the year. One thing I've always wanted to do was link up with a group of like minded souls and do a wee bit of reenacting. I'm well versed in the Jacobite period. I've studied it most my life. I am fond of all Scottish History though so I do not limit myself. That just would not be fun. I would be interested in all three periods that your group portrays. Again, you shall be hearing from me soon. Thank you.
    Yours Aye,
    Sean
