The Challenge ;D
So my dear, sweet hubby Christopher hasn't really had much of a chance to wear the kilt lately. Sometimes he can get a little shy about it, but most of that is due to lack of accessories and wanting to still look nice as well as be comfortable.
Tonight, we had two gin martinis before dinner and while he was still a bit tipsy, I wandered out to the living room holding his kilt and saying "You should wear the kilt.... especially when we go for our walk later!"
The challenge was thrown out. I added a few other things in there to taunt him as he thought about it, but I can't remember what I said. I know him... all it takes is that little challenge to make him feel like he has to at least try it. He agreed!
I'm not a big fan of scrunched down socks (I love kilt hose just as much as the kilt), and he didn't want to wear his hose up with his athletic shoes, so he wore some shoes that did work with the kilt and hose but would still be comfortable enough for our 3 mile walk around the neighborhood and a nearby park.
Of course, for once, no one was really out. We were both a little disappointed, but it was still a step in the right direction for another confidence builder. We did pass one guy who was jogging and I could see him looking down out of the corner of his eye at the kilt as we all said hello. Plenty of cars going by, too. The tennis courts and the park were empty and that's where we ended up walking most of the time (there usually are a handful of people out there and sometimes they can be a bit on the obnoxious side).
If it weren't for the fact that Christopher has to finish up something for work tomorrow, he would have taken me out for coffee or to a book store. Rats! Maybe next time. It was just nice to go for a walk with him kilted. I've been wanting him to do that for a long time. So he got to enjoy a nice kilted walk, and I got to enjoy my walk with my handsome kilted hubby! Yay!

I personally like to look nice when I escort my lovely wife for a stroll.
There is no one in this world I wish to impress more than her.
It seems to me that your husband probably feels the same.
Just make sure to let him know that you appreciate him dressing up to be with you.
Cheers

Congratulations. Hope it works out next time too.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Oh, most definitely! I do tell him how much I love him in the kilt and help him figure out accessories, etc. I'm really hoping to be able to get him more accessories over time (he doesn't even have hiking boots for hikes and walks. Something that not only looks nice with the kilt and hose, but will actually be comfortable for his feet and not break the bank -- that's our biggest issue of course. Can't really afford to do much with the kilt right now, but over time he'll get there, I'm sure!).
He really seemed to have a blast as well and he definitely got plenty of attention from me I'm glad he tried it. Sometimes you have to push yourself out of your comfort zone to discover a little more fun. He's always telling me that, so I figured tonight would be a good time for him to try it. He might try it a little more often, too. I definitely can't wait for him to take me hiking and camping -- wearing the kilt, of course!

Nothing like a nice evening walk with a beautiful lady to help build kilt wearing confidence! Hope you get to take many more walks with Christopher in the near future.

I hope so, too, Standard! That reminds me... he's had the kilt for about a year now. I can't remember what date he got it last year, but it's been about a year. My, how time flies!

I think thats great news, as for scrunched down hose, I know what you mean I almost always wear my hose up,even in the summer. I think it looks fine on others but not on me, funny that. Anyway drag him out more often and the confidence will grow.

I imagine there will be times he'll scrunch his socks down, but it throws off the look of his legs to me. He's lost a lot of weight over the years, and he's got very nice legs. The look of the kilt and the hose pulled up accentuates his nice, muscular legs perfectly If they were scrunched down, it would add too much bulk around his ankles.
Like I said, I'm sure there will be times he'll scrunch the hose down but if he asks my advice on it I'll usually vote for hose up. We definitely need to get him some better hose. He still only has the off-white, thin hose we first got him. I definitely want to invest in some really nice hose custom made for his muscular legs when we can. I want him to have a little more options as far as colors go (although, I'll admit, I don't mind off-white hose, especially if we can get a really nice off-white sweater to go with it. Love that look!), not to mention not have them look that thin.

Cynthia, while thin you may want to look at this ebay seller, they are not too thin and for the price are really worth it. It's a great way to build up some colours.

Thanks for the link Just offhand, do you know what size calf they usually fit up to? I can't remember Christopher's, but he probably falls in the "too-large-for-most hose" category, sadly I'll have to check his leg measurements and keep an eye on that link and other options while we save up to get him some really nice hose when we can.
