LBJ showed off his scars to the general public. If you wear your kilt and show your wounds, you will have to answer twice as many questions.

Haha! In a manner of speaking... No, being in Japan exposes me to all sorts of *ahem* interesting situations. I was actually attending a festival when, in the process of trying to get some good pictures, tripped over and onto a nasty tree stump, which did quite a number on me (combined with the fact that I'm still marked up from my scooter (motorbike) accident from two weeks ago)... I look like I came from a war zone.

The reason why I can't get into it is because this is a family-friendly forum and the festival in question was, to put it politely, a Shinto fertility festival and as much as I'd love to share my pictures with the rabble, many of them involve uhh... depictions and effigies of... well... naughty bits.

Having had friends who lived and worked in Japan I know exactly the festival you are talking about.

I have always wondered where people store those 20-30 foot long...err depictions for the rest of the year?

In my mind I have this image of some guy going to his garage and having to move this massive wooden...err...icon stored on some saw horses next to the family Honda to get his shop vac.

I won't even get into the candy they sell at that type of festival!

    Cheers
