My tartan would be the MacKirdy as that is my strongest ancestral link to Scotland. The pattern is next to my screen name. The MacKirdy is a special order ($$$) so I generally stick with the mass-produced Stewart tartans, having recently ordered a Stewart hunting casual from Rocky at USA Kilts.

The Black Watch remains my favorite, however.

Might be worth contacting the following source to see if they can get the KacKirdy made up into a kilt for you. They list it in their tartan list under their 13oz kilt (which is listed at about $238US right now) for a band quality tartan kilt. Not sure if they will be able to get the tartan and make it up for you at that price or not, but worth the email to ask. I do not have any personal experience with them myself, but they are clearly a supplier for pipe bands, and that recommendation is good enough for me at least to consider.

    Hope it works out.

My family tartan is ancient MacKay which I wear proudly.

    Want list:
    Bruce - my great grandparents
County Cork - for my Irish Sullivan blood
Isle of Skye - one of the nicest tartans IMHO

I'll certainly research that link, thanks!
