Goodness me, girls in kilts
St. Paddy's found my band in jeans and Ts playing at an irish pub, the girls and the owners brother wore kilts (girls - Irish American from SK, his - red and green Hot Topic thing).
I chose not to be mistaken for a cheerleader or a catholic school student during my solo, the only flak I got was later when we got to the last pub.
A pipe band was walking by on their way to a gig down the way so we hollered at them and true to their word they came back and did a half hour for us (for tips, we took good care of them). The pipe major was a nice 20-something year old girl (gasp! ) in a fine IoS kilt, the lead drummer was also a girl (![Shocked](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif) ) as was one other piper.
All in all a good St Paddy's.
CT - i made banana nut french toast for breakfast too

Wait a minute, you got drunk and partied with a (at least partly) female pipe and drum band, and you can't share pictures!?
I'm hung over too, but not as you might think. I took Nyquil and cough suppressants and slept for 12 hours after working for 10 hours with a high fever yesterday. I'm still recovering from what I'm pretty sure was the flu, despite getting vaccinated this year. ![Sad](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)
PM me some non-P.C. pictures to make up for my not so nice St. Patrick's Day!
Be well,
Star

Star,
I thought for a second that you took Nyquil and alcohol!!
To all:
Please, please do NOT mix medicine with alcohol... I know of tragic stories involving alcohol and cold/flu meds...
Take care, drink herbal teas! I hope you feel better soon!

Why so astonished about female pipers and drummers?? Our Grade 4 competition band (Mohawk Valley Frasers) is half women, we have a female pipe sergeant, and half our drummers are women, including our bass drummer and both tenor drummers. Until this year, our lead tip was also female.

My pipe major was an ugly middle-aged guy. I guess I joined the wrong band.

Not astonished at that, it's that they were wearing " a man's unbifurcated garment" (which I also don't mind, I'd rather see a girl/woman in a kilt than a guy but that's just me).
CT - in fact most of the kilts I've sold from my collection went to women.

Cameron, what City were you playing in?
In January, he had the RCMP Pipe Band come down to Indian Wells from Vancouver for a gig, over a third were women.
