'Scuse me for wandering into the men's room but this is too good to resist.
About that bee -- I read a few years ago that a urinal company had started to put the bee in as a target. Given a target, men aimed for it, and establishments found they had an easier clean-up job in the area.
And:
On his first trip to France, my father -- in his late 50s at the time, which was mid-1970s -- was rather startled while using a French public convenience. Here came the French charwoman, bustling in and practically pushing him aside so she could swab it out! Culture clash for sure.
At least she had a good excuse for being there. I'll leave now (for now ).

Hmmm... Maybe I'm missing something (I surely hope not ), but when hoisting the kilt for a number one I occasionally get a little "splash" on my bare leg, NOT the kilt. (Perhaps some of you don't have good hoisting technique?!?) IMHO, pants/trousers are MUCH more prone to splash (and the "shake it off" dribble), and because of the nature of pant fabric it's MUCH more noticeable.
As an aside, the public "urinal" at the Madonna Inn near San Luis Obispo, CA (worth stopping in to check out is you're ever in the vicinity) is like a waterfall, so no matter how one might try...

I prefer to sit myself, my experience with military uniforms are a result of that

"Gentlemen lift the lid"
In college our common floor dorm toilet had a sign handwritten over the urinal stating " PLEASE STAND CLOSER----it really isn't as long as you think, and the next guy might be barefoot." The only graffiti in the bathroom that the janitors never painted over in the two years I lived there.

I must PIPE in on this one... It's a viscous fluid, it'll flow with the porcelain if you get the stream to meet up at a flat angle. I think all homes should have urinals. They waste far less water and are one of many things that sets us apart.

In his book" Bugles and a Tiger", John Masters informed us that " the Kilt is an unrivaled garment for fornication and diarrea". The "Simian Squat" should take care of any bowel problem and using a toilet rather than a urinal to micturate should take care of the other problem.:crap:oop:

In Islamic countries there are few urinals exactly for this reason - the backspash is considered a defilement. However, I avoid backsplash by picking the ADA compliant urinal - it is the closest to the floor. Stand a respectable distance away and blast away. Just because you are wearing a kilt doesn't mean you have to pee like a woman.

Partly the result of age and partly the result of medication I tend to 'spray' instead of 'jet' - just cannot help it - and so have been sitting for several years now ............ oh, not continuously, you understand, I do get up and walk about most of my waking hours!
Too much information here!
Take care,
Ham.
