Hello and a warm Celtic from Boston, Massachusetts.
Are you putting your Husband in a kilt? and the bairn? There are plenty of "universal" Tartans that anyone can feel comfortable wearing. There are actually very few tartans that have restrictions on the wearers, BTW.

I didn't know that Irish had tartans too--I looked up my ancestor's surname (gallagher) and it turns out I do have a tartan!

This is great, now I just need to find it somewhere...
