    Cool Normandy Tartan

    Dear Ladies & Gents,
Please help me out here. Is this a handsome tartan? I've looked at so many tartans lately I think I may be losing objectivity. It sure ain't cheap. Please answer as soon as possible because I may not be around much longer.

Being an anglo-norman-scot mongrel, and only having a scottish middle name "MacNeal" with no strong ties to any particular clan, but lots of ties back to Normandy, I thought this might work for me.

    Thanks so much, ColMac

PS - that really was a clan's badge in an earlier post.

I think it is handsome. I'm not sure how it would look as a kilt, or what the pleating options would be (isn't it frustrating, trying to decide based off a photo of a section of fabric? I'm dying to see what the Griffith tartan looks like as a kilted skirt). I wonder if one of the kiltmakers are familiar with this tartan or have used it before. But yes, I think it looks very nice.

Argghh! I just found a pic of a kilt in it on "realmen". It looks like hammered doggidudu.

Now there's a phrase you don't hear every day...
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

This is indeed a nice tartan.

Unfortunately the fabric is very hard to get .

You can only purchase it at "La Maison du Kilt" in Paris.

A French gentleman will be sending us fabric so that Lady Chrystel can make him a Double Box Pleated Kilt, and he was telling us that he had to insist to get the fabric for a kiltmaker other that those appointed by "La Maison du kilt".

    ...so good luck !

I think that's a really lovely tartan - simple and bold but also pleasing to the eye and not garish. I thought the picture of it made up into a kilt worked because it is bold and a little bit different - I can imagine it working superbly with a nice black jacket as part of a black tie outfit.

Ok I know I'm a raving fan of district tartans so maybe a wee bit biased but I honestly believe this looks good

I suppose I could wear that tartan. I must pass this information on to my relatives in Normandy. I have a feeling that they will be very interested.
