Which would be great for me, since my mom was a brunette, my dad was a red-head, and I got my mom's hair, and my dad's skin. I'm very pale and there's no way I tan. When I've tried to wear hose scrunched, I keep getting asked not to as my legs are too white.

Looks like you got yourself a great pair of kilt hose.

This is one of the big differences between "standard" kilt hose and nicer ones. You want a nice beefy cuff around the top of the calve. "Standard" hose are just too short and too thin, especially if you have a larger than average calve. The extra size stretches the sock out so it's very thin and distorts the design, if any, and also constricts uncomfortably around the leg.

My Gaelic Themes piper hose are this long and I fold them over 3 times and still have a very beefy, 3 - 4 inch cuff when done and they look and feel great.

I do have odd shaped calves. Here they are, when I eyed them in the store, I thought they would go with my MacNaughton, well...they don't. But for 19 bones I will keep them.

From that photo I think it looks just fine together. If that is the weathered tartan it will work very well. You might consider wearing red flashes instead of the blue to help visually tie the leg colors to the upper part of the outfit.

The flashes are actually green, and it matches the green in my tartan, but there is not really any blue in the tartan according to my wife, I am color blind. I was never good at "matching": and the sorts. She also claimed the red shirt looks bad with the kilt. I thought it all looked pretty good, but I am not one for fashion. Trust me.

I would love to have flashes in every color, that would be neat. I gave away some orange flashes last week, so now these are the only ones I have. I paid 27.00 dollars for them.

I think the hose look fine with the kilt, you might want to wear a shirt that is close to the same colour as the hose, that will help to bring it all together. If you don't have a shirt that colour well then it looks great the way it is.

I 100% agree with McMurdo. I usually try to get my hose to match my shirt color that I'm wearing. It typically looks pretty good. Then your flashes can match your kilt (as they normally do), and you'll look really sharp and well dressed.

I like the hose personally. Good color.

Check over in the DIY section for suggestion on how to make your own flashes. Also Matt at the Tartan Museum has some nice garters with no elastic.
