Wear a flat cap and white hose in front of certain members.

...or one of those tuxedo tshirts.

Respectfully, I must disagree. Especially so, as everyone will be wearing mostly "normal" clothes, but in a tacky manner.

Now then- If you want to really go all the way to tacky up the kilt, ditch the kilt hose and garters and substitute with regular over-the-calf dress socks with sock garters and sandals. From a kilted teacher to a kilted student(I presume), I say that you should wear your kilt as a normal piece of clothing, which is what it is. It's neither a religious garment, nor a uniform, nor any other form of purely ceremonial garb (when refering to civilians, that is).

Wear your kilt with pride, but for that particular day, in the worst taste possible.

Wear your kilt proud, but not so proud that you can't laugh with others. As stated previously, don't disrespect yourself/clan/others, but have fun!!

My only hold up would be one question- have most of these people seen you kilted before?

If this is the first time anyone has seen you kilted, it might set a bit of a precedent and make it really hard for people to take it seriously in the future, if you decide to go kilted for something more formal. Then one day you try to go to a formal kilted, or like many here decide to go full time kilted, or at least put them in your standard closet rotation... and people will think you're just goofing off.

If they have seen you or know you're into kilts, and the above concern won't be an issue... go for it. This will REALLY ruffle some feathers, and will really work best if people are used to you in a kilt... go pleats up front!!!!!
