The green would probably look good. You could probably pick any color in the pattern and match the flashes to your shirt.

Something subdued for normal or casual, toning with or matching the major colours of the kilt. Same colour as the shirt tends to look good,or picking out the colour of the tie with a jacket.
For dressier times one of the minor colours from the tartan will stand out and make more of a statement, but still be coordinated.
I've been studying hose and flashes (with a view to making some) - it is surprising how the flashes, if correctly chosen can really add to the colour balance of an outfit.
For my IOS I made a set of solid flashes in the purple. It makes the color really pop! They cost about $4 and 30 minutes to make. God bless liquid stitching and elastic!
