I feel devilish enough sometime to give one an invented name just for my own amusement when somebody asks...
McFraggle of Golspie for instance!

Three cheers for curiosity so courteously expressed!

I googled that but could not find a pic. Do you have one, As I have family from there. A great, great Grand-Uncle of my much maligned sister's, Vicar's neighbours cat, once removed. Bartholemeow McFraggle of Hourseradish, any relation?

The tartan question does pop up once in a while... As soon as I answer with Irish National, or American Heritage, or other generic, interest measuredly drops. If I answer with a clan name, I can count on a bit of lecture on clan history, of some kind, or another, sort of, and very likely, very made up.

I got that question the first time I wore my Highland Granite out. In fact, it surprised me more than the usual QUESTION I get. Still, it's always nice to know that some of the rednecks out in my world have some idea....

You've just got to love the enthusiasm that the power of the kilt will conjure!

What bothers me is when I answer honestly, then the questioner knows more about what I'm talking about than I do.
