I attended a wedding where the groom was kilted and the bride wore a cheongsam or qipao if you will. A couple of us guests were kilted too, (sorry no photos) and I thought it looked pretty cool.
That being said... One thing for sure, weddings are the bride's deal, although generally managed by the mother or other female relation. Your job is to show up on time and remember your lines!
You certanly should have some input, so keep pushing for the kilt, but have a backup. I think most here will agree that a plaid on a tux is not appropriate, but a tie, waistcoat or cumberbund in your tartan would be fine.
