Personally, I appreciate being able to hear a variety of opinions regarding kilted attire from across the globe. It helps inform my decisions. In the end though - its up to me to decide what I will wear and how I will wear it. I see a spectrum - long continuum of kilted customs if you will - stretching from grunge to highland traditional. Its up to me to decide where I fit in this rainbow of possibilities.

Because it's exactly like wearing top hats, turbans, baseball caps, and bandanas.
It's also a common attribute of the North American, plastic-paddy, Openly beer-drinking, weekend Scottish, -Guy-who-wouldn't-know-anything-about-a-kilt-even-if-it-bit-him-in-the-hindquarters..You know?

*They were both somewhat vague about where exactly they placed
First of all, that survey of sexiest kilted men in ameirica was from several years ago and has not been repeated so that data may not be valid today.
Second of all, whoever said there were even 1,000,000 sexy men in Scotland, let alone 1,000,000 kilted ones? ;) Maybe if you count the kilted xmarks tourists.
Ayin, it was a very interested if not heated discussion that went on for several days, so I am surprised you did not catch it. As Jaime says, we have all agreed to disagree, and it has become the new standard for giving someone a poke metaphorically whenever we each get a chance, so hearing small sideways comments about flatcaps will likely continue for some time. I for one have several in solid and tartan materials, and wear them regularly, but will likely choose to leave them in the suitcase should I return to Scotland kilted in the future. I still find it interesting, though why so many scottish highland wear shops list them among their headwear and in literally thousands of tartans if no scots are buying them. Are there really that many of us ignorant tourists around? ;)

I think you look very handsome so--march on soldier!
And BTW, can I get a copy of that published study on the 2,000,000 sexiest men in kilts?

Guys, Panache's name is Jamie, pronounce jay-me not Jaime, pronounced hi-may.... which is not to say that James doesn't have the raw manliness of the most Latin of Lovers (as I'm sure the F-H.C.A.G. will attest) but still.. .
Anyway, that Monkey@Arms, guy, He's smart dude. Like...what HE said.

I happen to think that flat caps look very dashing. I've never worn them myself, they aren't to my tast. I prefer to wear my Balmoral. It's just like everything else. wear what you like if it makes you happy. I certainly do. ]

I have been wondering who this Jaime guy is and why he has been stealing all my good press...

It is certainly a difficult task Alan to have to be constantly holding back and concealing all my innate machismo behind a facade of tweedy bookishness. But it was simply too hard to go through life with people overcome with passion throwing themselves at me all the time.

Jake,
So that's the reason you have been reluctant to have a kilt day at the SF Zoo!
Cheers
