Why all the negative comments on Flat Caps?

Ok, I've been noticing more and more people keep saying stuff like "Yeah, and he was wearing a flat cap with his kilt. HAHAHA" and I'll admit I'm pretty lost on this. I wear my flat cap all the time, both with my kilt and non-kilted. I also wear a cowboy hat and my kilt from time to time. I've seen people wear top hats, turbans, baseball caps, and bandanas, but for some reason there seems to be people laughing when a flat cap is worn with a kilt.

I just need to know whether or not I'm the blunt end of a joke that I'm unaware of. I still intend to wear whatever hat I want, no matter what anyone says, but I'd like someone to please fill me in if possible.

I'm not that offended by all the comments, I more just want to know why people keeping pointing it out, in what seems like a negative way.

My friend illustrated here lives in Scotland and every time I see him he ALWAYS wears a flat cap with a kilt............and white hose too!
In my opinion, looking very smart.

OK OK OK I officially stand corrected!

There are indeed fellows in Scotland who wear flatcaps with their kilts.

However there are those in Scotland who see that this is not traditionally done.

So ultimately one should wear or not wear a flatcap with a kilt based on their own choice.

LOL. Yeah, my solution was to just buy sporrans with no tassels, because yeah like you said, we tend to get a bit rowdy, and lose tassels everywhere.

I saw that photo posted by cessna152, and thought, where did he get my photo taken at the Paisley Fair. My Da always wore a "caiddie" also known as a flat cap here in the US. I have at least half a dozen,and NEVER leave the house without one. We Scots are aye fond of oor bunnets. In the Lowlands, we take off our breeks afore we doff oor bunnets. I have even seen it worn in bed (don't ask). So, to all I bid you go out and buy a caiddie,wear it for awhile, and if you don't get the feel for it, send it to me, I am always on the look-out for a new bunnet. LOL (I'm a cheeky wee man).

I don't know what to find more offensive in that photo:

• Tartan Mortar-Boards with Tassels
• Yellow & Red athletic socks
• Sneakers with a kilt on a piper
• All three worn at once!

And I'm definitely not a member of the kilt police since I frequently wear a flat cap with my kilt!
