A salute to my fellow Americans
IMHO, the recent SUCCESSFUL ENDING the recent act of PIRACY off Somalia.& the actions of my fellow Americans, is something to be LAUDED !!
1. Capt. Richard Phillips - A MAN, who was TRUE to His Responsibilities.
2. Our Government - Responded & REFUSED to Back Down
3. Our President - Stood firm & authorized the actions taken by our Navy.
4. Our US NAVY - They did their JOB.

Although it was lost in the media coverage of the American ship, the French also conducted an operation where hostages were freed. Kudos to them as well. Only by standing up to the pirates will they be made to stop.

I agree whole heartedly, these pirates have had relative freedom doing as they please. If they truely believed it could carry dire consequences continueing their current course, they might choose a different path.

Couldn't agree more, Puffer. First, the Captain was incredibly brave and smart. Second, kudos to my Navy brothers for doing their job at the highest level.

Those pirates have been getting away with a lot, and I don't think the United States understands how much it is costing. And not just private companies, but all of us. Something needs to be done. Somalia can continue its anarchical "government", but when they allow Somalis to take ships and threaten the lives of international sailors and tourists, something needs to be done.
