Weren't the US Marines involved in a "little anti-piracy operation" before in a place called Tripoli?

I'm glad that the captain was freed. But I would like the other 250+ hostages of piracy to be freed as well. I think that this problem is a little more involved than some would like to admit.

Praiseworthy all around (excepting the pirates).
Piracy has been a high crime at least since Roman times, yes?

Let's not forget the rest of the crew of the Maersk Alabama, which instead of just rolling over, fought back and fought off the initial attack, in the same spirit and with better success than the Crew of Flt 93 on 9/11.

Check out the Marque and Reprisal Act of 2001. It never became law, but it is interesting.
Because the United States was not a signatory to the 1856 Declaration of paris, Congress still has the power to issue Letters of Marque.
