Well, when you steam it, you don't press it. You need to go to the tutorial section and read through The Wizard of BC's tutorial on how to press a kilt; he explains it better than us.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

This is all well and good, but how do you steam a haggis?

(there's a punchline out there somewhere)

    Um... With steam?

Anyway, I take my kilts out of the closet once a week, so they get some use,and steam them while inspecting them etc. It would be nice to have one of those monster sized steamers that could steam cook a haggus from four feet away, but the small hand held Steam Buddy does OK... for steaming the kilt that is.

Your kilt will not need pressing, nor will it need steaming for quite a while. New kilts are pressed using steam and pressure. The steam comes from, ya know, hot water. The pressure usually comes from someone leaning on the pressing iron which, is different than your home iron.

Congrats on the kilt as it will last you a life time with very little care required.

Insult his wife, put a dent in his car. Light a paper bag full of dog poop on fire, on his porch. Ring his doorbell and run away.
