Jones by proxy
Today I ordered (in just the last few minutes) my son's Easter gift, a SWK childrens' small Irish National kilt. He is 4, and that is what he picked out. Not a Gordon like I have, nor a MacDonald, like his ancestors on his mother's side, he wanted and was dead set on the Irish National, and I can't remember him having ANY Irish ancestors. I added in a sporran for him, so he could have a real one, instead of his 'pocket' (a sporran I made him from two back pockets off an old pair of jeans.)
He doesn't know I ordered them, but he knows I have a mail box at the post office, and I have told him that the mail in the box is his, since only a few junk pieces comes to it, but I needed if for my hot sauce business, and he likes to see if he has any mail whenever we are at the post office. He will be really surprised to find an object for him (a claim ticket, no way the box is going to fit in there) with his name on it at the post office.
I'm getting that jonseing feeling already. Hey, am I suposed to let my 4 year old catch up to me on the number of kilts he has? After this, he will have 2 and I have 4, oh dear....

That is the best! The jones for a gift that you are giving is really the best one.
I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear

It arrived at the post office today, partly because my son thinks the po box is his. We had gone Sat, but it was not there yet. So again today we go again, and there was a slip in the box, I gave it to my son, and we got in line. I had to hand the slip to the clerk, since my son isn't as tall as the window, and she handed me the box, which I showed my son and pointed at the name and he exclaimed 'It says Mark!" and he proudly carried the box back to the car, and once we got home he started trying to rip into the box, but I had to help him open it, I got the pull tab started and held the box as he pulled the rest of the tab off. He reached in, and said loudly (He doesn't have yelling down yet, he just has loud talking) "Holy crap! A new kilt!" I looked into the package, and found the sporran I ordered for him, and he looked at it and said "A new shield too?" I asked if he was sure that it was a shield, and he said yeah, just like the shield I have on my kilt right now. (I can live with that wrong word, I was worried he thought it was an actual shield that he could use as a toy.)
I still need to check the fit and all that, and get the required pics, but my son is very happy.

as promised, pics. He didn't like being told to smile nicely for the camera, he was really happy the rest of the day. The first place we went was a McDonalds, and a random person was happy to see a kid in a kilt and gave him a handful of change. If he learning the power of the kilt this young, women will have no chance when he is older. Heh heh heh.

ok, this other pic is from a different trip to Cincy. I think it could make for an interesting group pic...
