Hello  and a warm Celtic  from Boston, Massachusetts.
Welcome to the addiction, from a full time kilt wearer. Even if you are not doing the athletics, the Highland Games offer many other options to enjoy. IE Bagpipe competition, watching the athletes, clan tents, Scottish food, meeting up with many other kilted people.
