Had mine done to the sett. I've kept copies of X Marks tartan kilt pics that are posted. Of those that show the pleats 13 are pleated to sett (including Ham, Retro Red,and Glenn) and 17 are done to the stripe (Jamie, Alex and Mike1). Unfortunately the pics are too small for me to figure out which stripes are used. Can tell you all the pleated to stripe kilts have horizontal white lines showing across the back.

Sett.. no... white line.. no sett, Darn, they all look so good. Just thinking about it is keeping me entertained until my material arrives. Look forward to see what people do with the pv xmarks.

    You asked ...

Just lay out the material, close your eyes and pleat! Show the world you're avant garde!

Seriously, I'm not sure but I think it would be to the sett. Maybe. Or the white stripe ... hmm ... Gotta get my pennies cashed in so I can order some if some PV is left. And convince my SO I need a XMTS kilt ...

    She did say I needed a blue-based one ...

I pleat all my kilts to a stripe, I am losing weight and this way they are easier to alter ;-)
But I also prefer the look.
My XMTS is pleated to the yellow stripe, that gives a nice subdued look without being boring.
