Amazing pictures!
You can almost feel the desert heat.

Beautiful photos Alan. The last time I was in the desert (Death Valley) was November of 2003. Your photos make me want to plan another trip. Thanks for posting.

Regarding how much rain...not a lot, and nearly all of it falls from December through February, with an occasional thunderstorm and downpour way up in the mountains in the late Fall. Temperatures in HellHole Canyon during mid July can top 120 deg F.
A lot of people who live in the town just leave and move out to the coast from early May through late September.

Great pics, Alan. I was admiring the ocotillo blooms and other desert beauty on our drive back from Palm Springs (Palms to Pines Highway, or is it the other way around?). Never found a place to stop for pics so yours are especially appreciated.
Can do without the heat myself! Spent a few too many Fourth of Julys flagging races at Willow Springs, track temp (asphalt surface) in the 130s. . . San Diego is much more my style these days.
