    Just finished my first X-kilt!

I just finished my first X-kilt, and it turned out great. I have some experience sewing so it wasn't really difficult once I got to it. It took me a couple of weeks, working on it when I had an hour here or there.
I used a navy blue "bottomweight" that I found at a JoAnn fabrics. A 9in apron, 12 pleats and underapron... I had about 1in of fabric left of 4 yards!!
I A-shaped the apron (1.5in) and am glad I did. I think I might try 2in next time. Sewed down all the pleating. When I cut the 4in strip for the waistband, I ironed it into quarters like quilt binding and just stitched it once right trough all the layers. I guess my machine is tough. Having that stitch visible looks fine since all the pleats are sewn, etc.
I put on 5 belt loops. The left front one I put a little extra 1/2in loop at the bottom so that I might be able to attach a ring or snap there later. I also made the cargo pockets, pretty much as described.

This thing is just as nice as my Utilikilt! Not quite as heavy... I'm already keeping my eyes open for another nice color, maybe a chocolate brown, to make another one.

I think, next time I will try adding two leather straps and buckles, instead of velcro or buttons/snaps. I really like the pockets, but might make them 2in deeper and experiment with some utility pocket styles.

My son (18) already asked me to make him one
