I had a call last night from a cousin of my dad. I've never met or even known about this lady, but she saw my name in the paper and figured we HAD to be related. Ahhh...the joys of an unusual surname.

At any rate, we chatted for awhile and she said she recalled visiting dad's family when she was a young child in the late 40's. She said she always loved going there because in the closet my grandfather had a set of spats, and that he also had a kilt and a set of bagpipes!

I was gobsmacked!! I asked her for more info but she said she was only 5 or 6 years old and couldn't recall any details, just that he had these items. She also said that he always claimed that while he came from N. Ireland, the family roots were Scottish-based. She only lives 20 minutes away from us so I plan to head over for a visit in the very near future. ith:

I guess I need to do some more serious digging. Woohoo!!
Very cool. It's an amazingly small world sometimes, eh?

I wish!! With a decent 6-49 win I could quickly surpass Hamish's kilt collection.
