Hold on, I'm not so sure that was a compliment. I have heard that this is a way of Scottish humor. For example, "those cream hose and flat cap there are looking good."
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

I got one of these at the Woodland, CA Games. A guy walked up to me and said, "That's a nice flat cap. A lot people wouldn't wear that with a kilt."

I replied with something like, "At 6'1" and 275, I don't get too many people telling me I shouldn't."

    He promptly left.

Perfect response. I'm 6'2" and 202 and not too many people give me much kilted fashion advice. Besides, I happen to think the flat cap looks great with a kilt. And at the risk of insulting some of the traditionalists here, I would much rather don a flat cap than some of the more traditional headwear. Maybe it's because my head is a smaller size or something, but I could never find anything but flat caps and ball caps that properly fit my head....
