A days full of errands in a kilt.

I had a whole bunch of errands to run today, so I threw my Black Stewart on and left the house. It was probably the most hilarious day so far. I went all over, including my work to get my paycheck. While there, one of the guys needed help with something on the computer. A customer had been eying me and snickering with his friends when I went around the counter and started working on the computer. When he realized I worked there, and the that I was a manager, he got this really embarased look on his face.

Later, I went to Target to get some clothing stuff. I was in the area near some shorts, looking at a shirt, when a lady came around and said 'Oh, are you looking for some shorts for the season?' Then she came around the rack and saw me in my kilt. She just raised her eyebrows and turned and walked away, leaving me grinning like a cheshire cat.

The best was when I walked out. As I left, there were a trio of girls who were probably about 18 or 19 outside. As I walked by, one of them said 'Nice kilt.' I turned and smiled and thanked them and kept walking to my car. A bit later, as I got close to my car (it was in the far corner of the lot), a car pulled up with the same three girls and the girl in the driver seat rolled her window down and handed me a piece of paper and said 'Call me,' and then drove away.

The whole day, I had both guys and gals giving me thumbs up or complimenting me, but that was the best.

I am now going to go walk a few miles to a Chinese place and get dinner. Who knows what will happen then.

So, are you going to walk or float to the restaurant?

Sounds like a fun day - though I'm not sure why a salesperson (if that's what she was) would walk away from an opportunity to talk you out of your kilt and into some new shorts - or even help you find a shirt to go with your kilt.

    Regards,
    Rex.

On the way to the restaurant, I walked by a couple of teenage girls who ran up to me and asked if they could take a picture of me. Who am I to say no? I posed with each one of them, and then posed by myself, completely hamming it up. I didn't at all see the attraction because I was in a gray workout shirt, green military cap, brown hiking socks and hiking boots and incredibly sweaty. They loved it though. No phone numbers, unfortunatly. I'll still settle for the one set of numbers I got earlier. My girlfriend may not approve, but I will continue grinning from ear to ear all day.

I went to work kilted today myself - I was supposed to hang with Kent F. at his daughter's Cultural Festivities, but my vehicle repairs came first. I took my Jeep into the dealership for said repairs. Gotta a lot of strange looks and I believe one of the service techs gave me a snicker.

Walked to the club after dropping off my vehicle. No big deal. A couple of my employees asked what the occasion was. My radio rep came by and dug it.

Left the club after a few hours to pick up my Jeep at the dealership. No comments, looks...nothing.

I guess nothing is better than a negative. Went home from there - lost the kilt and jumped in some boardshorts, grabbed a couple of cold ones and hit the pool. Not a bad day....

I have noticed though that some of my kilts get a little more comments and praise than others. I find that when I go out more casual, I tend to get more positive comments. Maybe, people around here are afraid to ask when I'm in full regalia. Interesting experiemnet though....

Interesting point that the girls were in their car when they braved giving out there number. Just as we can talk about the power of the kilt there is also power of the car. People feel protected in their vehicles and will often express feelings, better or worse from the security of their ride.

I love how so many people still look at me and say, "Oh, what's the occasion?"

    "Uhm....it's a day that ends in Y".
