    And therein lies the real guidelines. Unless your local climate is just like that of the highlands of Scotland, you are going to have to make adaptations for climate. Plus, you may have to make further adaptations due to your personal health.

    I have a Henschel hat similar to the Tilley, but with a web fabris on the sides instead of solid fabric. It's designed to "breathe", but it makes my head hotter than if I go with no hat. It's good to keep the sun off, though, and it's in my size (3X).

    Here's a shot of me in my Tilley at Caerlaverock Castle on the Solway Shore near Dumfries, Scotland. I like my Tilley even if it IS a bit rumpled. It matches me.

    Tweed flat cap. Good for all seasons except the hottest. Baseball style works fine; in Boston with the B.
