This is exactly why I chose not to wear a kilt - though I really wanted to. It was my daughter's day to shine and she didn't need me to be drawing any attention away from her. I can wear a kilt any day, but she can only graduate from college for the first time once in her lifetime.

I wore my kilt to graduation. After the ceremony, I saw an older gentleman wearing a kilt and I approached him. He was delighted that I was wearing a kilt and in his Scottish brogue said that he was wearing the Rose tartan. Nice man, came all the way from Glasgow to see his granddaughter graduate.

Besides that, you met up with another elderly kilted gentleman earlier in the week. Although, he didn't have a Scottish brogue.

That's awfully sweet! Congratulations to your daughter, that is an admirable accomplishment.
