Passing on what I've learned here
My older brother called me this AM. He told me he had hired his kilt outfit for the Magnolia Ball, (it has a Scottish theme this year.) I started asking him questions, tartan, jacket style, etc. He asked me what he was supposed to do with the "knife." I explained that and then told him about cuffing his hose and where the kilt should come in relation to his knees. He told me the two overlapped, so of course I told him he was wearing the kilt too low, seems the rental store had not explained any of this to him. So I got to pass along the knowledge that I've gained from XMTS over the past year+. It was a good feeling. Thank you.
Respectfully,
David

It is sad to hear that a kilt shop would neglect to give a customer that information. I'm glad to hear that you were able to pass on the information.

It's great you were able to fill in the blanks left by the rental store. XMTS really has helped spread a valuable store of knowledge and you helped spread it a little further! Well done.

I was at a highland games last weekend, and a good number of the young guys were wearing the kilts down around their calves! Passing on knowledge is important.

at least the lot you saw were a bit long.... I saw a few last weekend who wore theirs a bit short... one guys kilt was halfway up his thigh... several others wore theirs a bout 3inches or better above the knee...

Even worse is seeing somebody wearing the kilt backwards! Yikes!

Heh. I am no longer surprised at the knowledge about kilts I've acquired.
The other day, I saw Mike Whitney (former Aussie cricketer, now TV presenter) all kilted up on Sydney Weekender. My first thought was that he had it too low, as his beer-belly was very obvious! :-)
