My sporran could have eaten your father and your lawyer...
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Personally, I like understated, myself. (Please no comments about my shoes- my brogues were stuck in customs. )

Cerebite, one of our Colorado rabble, has a sporran like that. First time I saw it, I had my sgain dubh half out and was ready to attack it because I thought some animal was attacking his crotch. And then I realized it was his sporran.

Well, I guess you could try a full mask tiger sporran.

What kind of chain or strap would you hold that up with? That could possibly be the heaviest sporran ever, a lot of fur there in a tiger head

I must admit to a sneaking desire for one of those long hairy sporans. They certainly make a statement. I wonder why they went out of fashion but I suppose like everything else "what goes around comes around". Time to start checking EBay.

No offence meant to anyone, as I am so new to being kilted, but after reading through this thread and what I have learned previously, I thought the long haired sporrans were primarily for pipers and drummers. I too liked the long haired sporrans but have avoided considering the purchase of one because I was told they were primarily for the bands. Is there any truth to the 'band' rumor or is it that they have just gone out of fashion? Or are we gonna end up in one of those conversations that ends up saying, 'wear whatever you feel comfortable wearing"?
Anyone care to step up on this question?

If you take a look through the Vintage thread here:
http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/s...316/index.html
you will see that indeed the long hair sporrans were in fashion at one time. I think the rumour that they are for bands comes from the fact that today that is where most people see this type of sporran. There is nothing wrong with wearing one though.
