Talking I Can Hear the Tartan Police Screeching Up To Your Door

In his case, OUT, but I'd fix the look of the sporran pocket in front. Otherwise, your hubby is such a fashion victim, I'm suprised the Tartan Police haven't drawn a chalk outline around him yet. He looks a bit rumpled but I suspect he's more into comfort. With a Utilikilt-type kilt pretty much anything goes. If you ever get him to wear a traditional kilt post a pick just for comparison sake. I imagine a more RenFest style would look better on him (tartan kilt, waiscoat, poplin shirt with collar).

I've fixed the sporan pocket since that picture was taken. He's learned his lesson. As for when this thread will stop? When people stop posting to it.

He has a traditional kilt. I forgot to get his picture in it the other day. He looked quite sharp. He was only missing flashes.

That misses the point. The question isn't one of "rules," but of esthetics and fashion.

As OP's Rogue discovered, to many people's eye the proportions of the kilt wearer, and "look" of the kilt, be it modern or traditionally styled, are enhanced when the shirt is tucked in.

By the way, I got the "tucked in" advice when I bought my very first kilt, a Utilikilt, from one of their senior sales persons. Works for me, but YMMV.

    Best regards,

    Jake

I may always wear a t-shirt with my kilts, but they are always tucked in.
