Loch Norman Pipe & Drum at Belmont Abbey Graduation

I apologize for the tardiness of this video; I kept forgetting to download it off my camera. I happened to be at Belmont Abbey College for their graduation ceremony last month. The Loch Norman Pipe & Drum Band marches in and plays for the entrance of faculty and students. They also play for the exit, but that more or less got rained out, so I don't have video of that. The video's not all that great, due mainly in part to the fact that I shot it using a digital camera, but the sound came out rather nicely. Just thought I'd share with all of y'all. Enjoy!

Great sound and the procession looks impressive too.

There is a Belmont Abbey just outside Hereford but it's not a college and even if it was probably wouldn't have a piped ceremony like this.

Yes, this would be the Belmont Abbey in Belmont, NC, USA, just outside of Charlotte. I forgot about the Belmont Abbey in the UK. As you can tell from the video, it's a very small college, somewhere around 1500 students. The pipe band entrance totally caught me off guard, too. I wasn't expecting it at all, which is why I was forced to shoot them with my digital camera instead of my camcorder. I have to say, though, the video came out a lot better than I expected.

I have been to the Belmont Abbey in North Carolina. I wasn't aware that there was one also in England!

I checked, and found the English community is older by some twenty-five years. They belong to different "congregations" within the Benedictine Order, though, so I can't tell if there was any connection between them.

Glad to see that the kilt is welcome there. The community is a very friendly one.

I play in the orchestra at the Univ of Portland, and the pipe band is so much more refreshing than the 27 times through Pomo and Circ. that we have to play.
