Total rant. Kilt gods NOT happy.

So this is getting pretty old. I'm wondering if there is a kilt god somewhere that I've displeased at some time in the past. I've had a mega-jones lately to go down to USAK and get that American Heritage. I've been waiting, saving up my money for the trip down. Get a kilt. Go across the street with the wife and have a nice lunch at the brewery there. Make a fun day out of it. So here's how it goes:

Planned on going for this kilt about a year ago. Me and the wife set a date when we could both be off on a Saturday for a date of it. Spun out on ice and had to fix my car to the tune of $700. No kilt.

Saved more money, was ready to go down right after Christmas. We made plans to go get it, getting all jonesy... W2 came in the mail, and I did my taxes. After a nice strong drink, accepted the fact that this time also, no kilt.

Saved more money, was all ready to go down.... blew out my ankle. Xray, MRI, the works. Torn ligament. Can hardly walk. No kilt.

Finally, I saved more money, and decided this June I was getting the kilt. Nothing could stop me! I was supposed to go down this coming Saturday to get it. Super-mega jones!!! Nothing could stop me this time, right????

Couple weeks ago I got laid off.

Who are the kilt gods, and what sacrafices do I need to do to appease them?

I see a dinner of Haggis and Scotch on the horizon to appease the Celtic Gods of Kilt-dom.

Perhaps you shouldn't plan on a field trip. Just order online before another stumbling block gets in your way.

I feel your pain. The lay-off roller coaster is not a fun ride. Here's to hoping your ride is short ending in quick re-employment.

Hey, look on the bright side. It's just a kilt. When I got laid off a few years back, I had a massive heart attack a month later, just as I was about to accept a new position for more money! Hahahahaha. There I was facing a 3/4 mil. transplant with no job!

But, I have discovered that scotch--really good, peaty, scotch, maybe Lagavulin--will go far in apeading the kilt gods. You can contact me privately for the address to which you must send it.

Bummer on the layoff. Any severance pay? Let's hope you get a new job quickly and have some $$ for that kilt.

    The sense of it all.

The world of logistics as they really are:

Package of goods from the College of Piping in Glasgow, Scotland to my home in Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A 56 Hours.

Package of chanter reeds from St. Catharines, ON, Canada by way of Kitchener, ON and Mississauga, ON to the U.S. 20 Hours. From where it landed in the U.S. to my home in Boston, MA 14 DAYS.

A Kilt from Minneapolis, MN to my home in Boston 39 Hours.

A kilt from Phoenixville, PA to my home in Boston 31 hours (all three times!).

A toner cartridge for a specialized printer from Framingham, MA to Boston, MA 26 days. ( I now drive out and get it.)

A kilt from Seattle, WA to Boston, MA 40 Hours.

A wee package from Victoria, BC, Canada to my home in Boston, MA 45 Hours.

My practise chanter from Saint Catharines, ON, via Kitchener, ON then Mississauga, ON to Newark, NJ to Boston, MA 4 Days.

My small pipes from Kearny, NJ to my home in Boston, MA 36 Hours.

I could go on, but the need for logistics type people is enormous in the field of transportation. I hope one of them finds you soon. I also pray to the Kilt gods that your American Heritage tartan kilt from Rocky pleases you as much if not more than my American Heritage semi-traditional from Rocky delights me.

    Kilt on

Especially when washed down with a good single malt!

Been on the lay-off list several times in the past, and it is no fun. Hope it is short lived.
