Scotland in April
After a week or so being fortunate enough to see such places as London, Paris, Bruges, and Brussels, my wife and I were equally fortunate to return to Scotland some 10 years after our last visit.

We enjoyed the company of some friends in their village and than headed with them to spend the weekend in Dunoon. We took the long way around and drove through the Loch Lamond national park, stopped for tea at "rest and be thankful", and other beautiful locales.

Dunoon is a wonderful place and filled with Scottish tourists as opposed to the regular tourists. It's a hard life of going for hikes in the country side, checking out the surrounding areas, and closing the evening with good food, cold drinks, and great company.

We were tempted to stay in Dunoon and just catch the train to Glasgow in a few days to fly back to London, but we both loved Edinburgh so much the last time we had visited it and being less than 2 hours away and not visiting would have been a shame.
So we got a good rate at the Old Waverly and hit the town to see what had changed in 10 years. Princess street was a mess due to tram construction, and the Royal Mile is now a comical parody of itself and Scottish culture, but the city is still one of my favorites. It's a great city and one worth exploring.

After 2 days it wa spretty clear to my wife and I that 10 years, a bunch of annoying road constructions and the locust like swan of Gold brother's shop could not kill the charm of Edinburgh for either of us. It was pretty fun to take a walking tour and know more about the city, the kilt, and Scottish culture than our tour guide. But hey, she was from Calgary and only interested in the drinking spots (been there....done that!).
Not a bad view to enjoy while having a sandwich and coffee mid day.

and of course I had to have a proper haggis dinner while in Scotland. Luckily Weatherspoons had haggis supper on the menu, and an international beer festival on at the time

and yes, I went to Scotland and got a flippin' sunburn. I have heard that's as rare as finding a golden haggis in the wild.
Hopefully it's less than 10 years before we can go back again.

It's only a small sampling of the 771 photos I took. Of course when London, Paris, Bruges, and Scotland are on the agenda there is never a shortage of beautiful scenes to photograph.

Really, really nice pix. Makes me want to bump up the trip back myself. However, Alaska and Ireland come first. Thanx again for posting the pix.

Crikey! I didn't know they wear kilts in Alaska - makes it sound even more attractive.
Happy travels,
Graham.
