    Guid Nychburris, Dumfries, 2009

The rabble set out to watch the Big Parade and Massed Bands.
Left to right Acaig, Pour1Malt, The Wizard of BC and Chas.

I wore the CADPAT Freedom kilt which the Wizard of BC had originally built for Riverkilt. Appropriately it is seen by the river.

    Kiltie on a scooter

The rabble found Elvis is alive and well and singing at the Mid Steeple in Dumfries, does that make us the LEKS (Live Elvis Kilt Society!)

The Queen of the South judged the childrens' fancy dress costumes.

A lone piper led the children's parade.

The cornet leads his men and women after completing the annual riding of the marches.

Who can resist another pic of a bonnie lass as the Queen of the South waves to the kilted rabble from her float.
    More to follow shortly

Lochmaben Pipe Band, who later went on to win the pipe band competition.

    The Corberry Pipers

    Costumes from Robert Burns era.

The halberdiers escort the Provost while councillors follow.

Dumfries and Galloway Police Pipe Band

Vintage David Brown tractor in the parade.

Lockerbie Royal British Legion Pipe Band

One of the many floats in the parade.

Buccleuch and Queensberry Caledonia Pipe Band

Massed bands wait to beat the retreat. Somebody ought to have provided kilts for the two people in jeans who had to march as helpers to the wheelchair bound drummer. More to follow shortly.

As though larger than life a burly piper from Lochmaben Pipe Band plays from the doorway of the Loreburn Hall.

    Drum Major

Massed band comprising The Corberry Pipers, Buccleuch and Queensberry Caledonia Pipe Band, Dumfries and Galloway Police Pipe Band, Dumfries Town Brass Band, Lochmaben Pipe Band and Lockerbie Royal British Legion Pipe Band.

My final pic is of the bands Beating the Retreat.
